Practicing Catholic Medicine is a podcast dedicated to developing community, encouraging conversation, and top-notch medical care that respects the dignity of all our patients. I interview Catholic healthcare providers each week and invite them to share the challenges, joys, and all the in-betweens of being Practicing Catholics, Practicing Medicine.
I’m your host, Catie.
I’m a physician assistant working in my dream career of inpatient pediatrics. I grew up in Minnesota, but moved to Colorado for PA school. While in school, I met my now-husband and we have no plans of leaving this great state! We welcomed our sweet daughter in 2019.
My desire to start this podcast was born out of my own searching for a podcast like this. As a former Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) missionary, I still have a missionary heart and desire to serve. As providers, we are given the honor of being a very intimate part of people’s lives, and witness truly the best and worst of humanity and illness. Healthcare provides so many beautiful opportunities to grow as individuals, but burnout, loneliness, and a lack of community can rob us of the joy of our professions. Add the challenges in today’s world of standing up for your morals and faith, and pretty soon we can forget the reasons we entered our fields. I hope this podcast uplifts you, reminds you of the joy and privilege of caring for patients, and inspires you to to see Christ and His will in all you serve.
Thank you for being here!
